No matter how patient Frostfoot was, it seemed to be moons had passed as she waited for her paw to be dug out from the hole. How in StarClan's name would something make a hole this small and long? She had never seen anything make a hole this small, no mouse could burrow something like this and surely no fox dug this as a den, you'd have to be a mousebrain to think that.
The tunnel was compact and sturdy, fully able to stand on it's own without collapsing. Something must have lived here, and maybe still if the tunnel survived the earthquake.
Frostfoot felt her neck fur stick up as a large shadow was cast over the cats. The white she-cat looked around to the look at the thing, her paw still firmly in the hole. Oh StarClan! What is that? Her eyes stretched wide and Frostfoot could have sworn her heart stopped for a few seconds. "Darktiger..." her meow shook, with her ears pinned to her head and she already crouching towards the ground it was clear she was afraid.

Sparrowflight stopped digging for a moment and cast her eyes up at the sky. The sun obscured her vision and she couldn't make out the shape. She hissed and furious dug at the earth. "hurry! theres soothing up there! We have to get her out!" She mewed feebly. She bristled and turned towards the shape. She yowled hoping to scare it away. Nothing would be bold enough to attack three adult cat would it?

Darktiger turned and started to dig quicker. But the work seemed to be slower then before. Drawing out a long angry hiss the tom moved in with both paw digging in faster and harder. "If that thing gets any closer I'll claw its eyes out!" He could feel the shadow growing larger, meaning whatever that was was getting closer to the cats. A loud cry split the air and the flapping of wings reached the dark cat's ears. Just than the earth that held Frostfoot brook free into a hole large enough for her to escape.

Frostfoot heard the flaps of wings, the cry that split the air as the winged-creature bared down on them all. And just then the earth that held her planted to that spot crumbled and her paw was flung free. In the she-cats hast to get out she tripped head-over-heels and landed on her back.
Shaking her paw lightly to get the circulation working again, Frostfoot finally got a glimpse of the creature. The sun glared against her eyes so she could only see the shape, the bird had a large wing-span and it's body was no exception. It's talons were sharp and pointed, ready to attack the cats and, looking at it's talons, it was fully able to lift on of them into the sky.

As she returned to dig she could almost feel the creature getting closer, the tension built up around the three cats like a fog, threatening to choke them out. She could feel sweat forming on her paws from the nerves and it made digging difficult, and just when whe was about to seal fate, the dirt broke away. Sparrowflight fluffed her self up and readied to bolted away as soon as Frostfoot was free. She pressed against Darktiger "Run!" She hissed and began running. She looked back over he shoulder to see if the others were behind her.

Darktiger wanted to run, ever hair on his pelt screamed and begged him to run but his paws and claws held firm to the ground. "This is the only living thing for a hundred tree-lengths! I'm not going to leave it when our Clanmates are starving!" Dodging around to the back side of the large bird Darktiger used his powerful legs to spring onto its back. It was then that he realized how powerful the bird actually was. The muscles were finely outlined, hard as stone and more powerful than a fleet of warriors. The tom dug in claws in and held on tight, the bird let out another ear splitting cry. "StarClan help me!"

(Sorry I haven't posted, it's been a busy week and next week I may not be on much since we have a few finals... :/ )
Frostfoot looked on as Darktiger took the daring risk of attacking the bird while she just stood there. Her mouth gaped open as as the bird flailed against Darktiger she was frozen, lost on what to do.
Yet, her mind resolved it silently, as if it knew what to do. Her eyes hardened. Her clanmate was in trouble and no way would she let him die. He was as well dead-right, there was certainly no other prey for tree-lengths. This was their only chance of food for the clans and it could feed several cats. They should at least try.
The white she-cat flung herself forward, launching herself at the bird in it's confusion with Darktiger. She grabbed at it's chest, leaving scores of scratches along it's belly and biting hard into the neck of the beastly-bird. The muscles of the bird rippled beneath her jaws, she could definitely feel it struggling wildly with all it had. Before she saw them she felt the talons of the creature reaching for her and Frostfoot let go of her claws so she tumbled to the ground; since the bird had risen slightly to the air in it's panic.
Frostfoot let out a soft grunt as she hit the ground, letting air flow back into her lungs on impact. She wasted no time in recovering, the warrior rose top her paws and returned to attack the bird. Darktiger was still hanging onto the bird's back, amazing. And he couldn't let go, he was in the exact spot perfect for killing the creature. Frostfoot skittered under it's shadow, avoiding it's claws so she could jump up and grab at it's tail. It screeched in agony as a few feathers were wrenched from it's skin. Frostfoot could feel blood splay across her face but had no idea if it was the bird's or hers.

Sparrowflight stood there dumbly frozen in shock. Darktiger had decided to try and take the down the bird and was now feebly hanging on its back. Her tail puffed up and her fur stood on end. Her mind finally over came its blank state and roared to life telling her to jump into action, but she felt numb to it. It reminded her of the owl attack, her claws sank in and her heart beated in her chest. The paralysis held her tight and she stared on as Frostfoot joined in the fight.

Yowling out a loud and powerful battle cry Darktiger's grip started to fail, but not to the point of him falling off. His claws dug deeper into the flesh of the large bird and ripped it along the spine. Flapping its wings harder to get away the beast bobbed up and down in mid air. Stretching out his neck the tom grasped the back of the eagles back and hauled himself back up, his grip regained. "Good work Frostfoot!" He managed to gasp out, but there was one cat missing from the fight. "Sparrowflight, the Clan's need your help! I need your help, attack!" Darktiger called to the she-cat who looked frozen in fear. Than again, what must it look like down on the ground?

Frostfoot felt the burst of inspiration as Darktiger shouted the compliment. She spat out the long tail feathers of the bird, blinking the blood away from her eyes before leaping into the fray again. Her claws snagged into it's back, where it's tail used to be. Frostfoot hoped to make it land, on the ground it would be rendered useless and they could take it down easily. Frostfoot launched herself onto one of it's great wings.
On contact she felt it's muscles, underneath as the feathers, ripple. Frostfoot sunk her claws in as the bird struggled to beat it's wing up and down in the regular motion. Quickly she clawed at the base of it's wing with feathers blowing into her face every time her claws wrenched them free. Frostfoot narrowly missed being bitten on her back by the bird's sharp beak.
Immediately she jerked the bird's wing until she heard the familiar snap of bone. The bird screeched, and all at once it turned up side down so Frostfoot hung from it's broken wing. The she-cat barely had any time to react before the bird spun again, this time scoring a long claw mark down her shoulder. Frostfoot yowled, only clinging harder to the bird as it struggled to stay in the air.
( Sorry for my very very overdue reply. ;w; )

Sparrowflight huddled, her eyes closed and her pelt quivering. He tried to push away the fear, the thought of getting hurt. Other cats were in danger and they needed her. She buried it, buried it deep inside were it couldn't hurt her.
Her eyes snapped open, her claws slid out. Her fur fluffed up and she leaped onto the bird. The weight of all three cats drove the large bird to the group and it hit with a hollow thump. Sparrowflight took a deep bite of feather and tasted blood in her mouth. A sense of borrow began to rise in her chest but she pushed it away. She was doing it! She was being brave! She was helping!!! In the fears place returned triumph and adrenaline. She could hear the brave yowls of her comrades and the agony of the bird. This would feed plenty of cats!!!

Darktiger caterwauled in triumph, the bird was on the ground and Sparrowflight had joined in the fight. The cats would feed their Clanmates, the treat of this bird would be gone and they would return as heroes. Gathering up his strength the tom launched himself forward extending this claws out and parting his jaws. He dug his claws deep into the neck of the bird and buried his sharp fangs just behind the skull. Skin broke, blood pulsed and the bird fell silent. Making sure the bird wouldn't move again Darktiger twisted the neck, breaking it with a snap. Panting the dark tabby sat on the back of the bird. "We did it."
