A Life You Love (Private Fates)

The moon was smiling down upon a particularly upbeat she-cat as she crossed the cracked, dry ground. It was cool upon the earth now, or at least cooler than during the day, and this was the time Cirruscurrent stole away to hunt, if she could, and if not, just to run free and wild like she used to so very, very long ago. It had been three and a half years of healing. Her legs felt very much alive. Along with her stomach, even though it had been unable to carry kits since then...Cirruscurrent felt alive with health and youthful vigor.

Every night she did this and the smell of Owlflight tickled her senses for he knew and wished her well each night the few instances he didnt come with her. She let out a burst of speed and grinned excitedly, especially when she scented bird...or thought she did anyhow. It didnt matter, she was hopeful, and steered her once-again-agile form towards the delicious prey scent. Slowing as the scent of her glorious mate surrounded her, she looked around herself curiously, panting as quietly as she could.

Owlflight had promised to join his mate after making a patrol and he was at the end of that patrol now. He had scented bird and was now stalking it, careful to remain quiet. His mate was down wind and he was unable to smell her as he made the lung, killing the bird with a swift blow before raising his head, bird at his paws and smiling warmly. A rough purr emitted from his maw at the sight of his beautiful mate stalking over to him " Sorry, I didn't realized a beautiful she-cat was stalking this prey aswell, I would've backed off. " he purred lovingly. He knew how happy she was to run again and decided to let her enjoy herself and pad over to him, not wanting to take away even a second of her delight of walking on her own.

When she made her way over he pushed his cheek against hers and wrapped himself around her, twinning his tail with hers and kissing her all over her face lovingly. He was fortunate, she had survived the quake unlike so many other cats, and even though he was sad for all the lives lost he was happier then a fat mouse in a wheat field to have her with him and healthy, loving her with all his heart.

"You flatter me." she blushed as the Tom did so after his magnificent catch. She noticed he let her come to him and she did so with a happy spring in her step; loving the feel of her springy legs even on the harsh, uneven ground. Cirruscurrent wound herself around her mate with an overwhelming purr of love surging up deep from inside her. "No, you caught it fabulously...Don't let me interfere with your spectacular catch..." she murmured between huge bouts of purring.

Like her mate, she could not fight the overwhelming happiness bubbling up inside her over the discovery of the safety of the love of her life. She thanked StarClan daily that they survived together...and along with two of her kits in tact. When he kissed her face all over, she blushed even more fiercely and sighed blissfully; still feeling butterflies churning inside her whenever she were near him. That's how fierce their true love was.

Owlflight purred as she coiled herself around him as well " I'll always flatter you dove. How's it feel to be able to prance about once more? " he rumbled gently pulling away from her to push the bird in front of her, indicating she should eat. He rasped his tongue over her ear once more before backing away a bit more, keeping their fur brushing together though. He couldn't help but stare at her and sigh, he wanted to have kit with her but he knew she was afraid, and now really wasn't the time, the clan not having a home. If they were to have kits he wanted them to be born into a secure home, not an unstable world with threats looming at every bend in the trip.

He perked his ears as a vulture screeched nearby and narrowed his eyes, how he hated the damned birds. Not only were they ugly they feasted on decay, it was a wonder they weren't dead from disease. He looked back at his mate and nuzzled her cheek " How are you doing? I've been so busy tending to the clan I haven't been able to spend much time with you... " he murmured, sadness lacing his voice.

The she-cat smiled at her mate radiantly as he gave her his prey. "Fancy prancy happy feet." she purred loudly, bestowing upon his cheek a soft kiss of gratitude and fierce love. She twined her tail around his to pull him closer to the prey so they could share. Gazing at his flanks somewhat heaving from the rush of adrenaline at catching the bird made him seem more real to her, more here with her...instead of in her dreams and fantasy like a lot of times lately. She too thought of kits every day, she longed for them, she longed for his...But only when the time would be right...when she was fully better (which was not last time). Now that she was fully healthy they would be able to...but the time was not right...She sighed softly, a small frown marring her brow.

Then she licked his neck softly before digging into the prey deliciously. Some bites later, she replied, softly, "I miss you...But I know soon we will be able to do this every day, nearly every waking moment..." Cirruscurrent purred loudly.

Owlflight purred at her kiss and wrapped his twined tail with hers around her. He kept an eye out for predators while his beloved ate. He knew she needed the food more then himself to keep her strength up. He purred deeply as she groomed his neck and looked over at her as she spoke of missing him " I miss you too... but the clans need me to help the leaders.. I mean.. I'm probably the oldest geezer in all the clans combined! " he laughed before sighing and dabbing at some feathers that gently moved on the ground in the breeze. " Yes.. one day.. and we'll be surrounded by the pitter patter of tiny paws begging us to play with them... just don't go hitting your head on anything and losing your memory again.. I don't think I could stand watching you love another again... " her murmured gently, touching her forehead with his own and closing his eyes, a soft purr sounding from his throat as he held the pose for a bit before pulling away slowly after touching his nose to hers and looking down at the bird. " Come on, finish that and I'll take you to the cove for a cool drink and maybe a swim if you're up to it. " he rumbled gently.

Cirruscurrent blinked at him, sitting up and cocking her head at him, "You're not so old...Not in my eyes..." she murmured softly, placing her paws atop his gently. "Now please...eat something. Eat the last bit, I'm quite full." she smiled. Her heart raced as he mentioned the tiny paws, their kits' tiny paws..."I wouldn't dream of doing that to you again..." she looked down, lowering her ears and pulling her paws away, shame-faced. Her darkest nightmares, which came often enough, revolved around those atrocities and she shuddered.

When their foreheads touched softly, she looked up at him and smiled softly; grateful, "I like swimming..." she admitted quietly.

The tom purred and sighed, giving in to her sweet plea's he knelt down and ate the last bit of the bird licking his maw as he finished. He looked over to her and nudged her gently " You're better now... it wasn't your fault.... I don't love you any less for it, now come on, lets go swim." he murmured, getting up to lead her to the coves, tails twined. He wouldn't want this any other way, the two of them together, taking a night stroll. It would have been better if their secret place in marshclan hadn't been destroyed, but he knew when they'd find their new home they'd find another secret place, someplace they could share with their future kits when the time came.

He kept his pelt constantly touching hers as they padded through the night and made it to the cove. He led her inside carefully, listening and tensing for any dangers in the cove to find none. 'they must be gone to hunt during the night..' [/b] he thought to himself, immediately protecting her as a couple bats flew out of the cove before taking a deep breath and padding over to the edge of the water and laid down gesturing with his head " Go on dove~ " he purred.

The she-cat breathed evenly and a deep breath now as he comforted her. "Y'know...I almost miss the dangers we took together." a smirk on her playful face as she tugged down one of his ears giddily. When he laid down at the water's edge, she looked at him funny and began to nibble at his scraggly but handsome coat, "C'mon lazybones, seniors first." with a giggle as she began to nudge him in the direction of the water. Her paws stood in the cold stuff and she shivered at the wonderful feeling of bliss.

The tom laughed and wrapped his paws around her and rolled over, taking her with him into the water. He surfaced and laughed, paws stilled wrapped around her as he pulled her up so she broke the surface. The pool wasn't that deep so he was able to sit and hold her up, nuzzling her " I miss our daring adventures as well but just think of all the dangers we'll face on this journey, you'll have plenty of chances to save me and make me swoon" he teased and laughed. He wasn't the swimmer type with his longer fur but he learned to deal with it years ago when he helped her exercise in the water to strengthen her legs.

He snugged her tightly before finally letting her go so that she could swim around. He ducked his head back under to fix his spiked fur and came back up. A purr rose in his throat again as she watched her enjoy herself, if only all the other cats could see things like her, then maybe things wouldn't be so bad right now.

Cirruscurrent squeaked in giddy surprise as he attacked her and pulled her into the water with him. It was indeed cold, but amazingly so and she broke the surface as well with his help and a laugh bubbling from her intoxicatingly. When he held her and nuzzled her close, she purred with satisfaction and closed her eyes shut, a smile stuck on her maw, to savor the moment.

When he released her, a pang struck a chord in her heart for she never wanted him to let go. She churred happily deep within her throat and watched as he ducked below swiftly then rose where she promptly began washing his head fur to a non-spiked angle. Then she twisted gleefully away and flipped once more under the water. Surfacing a few moments later with water concealed within her mouth...which she squirted right at Owlflight's watchful form. Then she guffawed and twirled about him, wanting pursuit.

He purred as she groomed his fur down and watched her duck under water for a bit like a beautiful fish before resurfacing and squirting water at him. He pulled his head back and shook his fur, causing it to spike and laughed " You're gunna get it now! Dun dun! Dun dun!" he growled playfully, lowering his head so only his nose up on his head showed above the water. He slowly made his way over to her, ears laid back " dun dun, dun dun, DUN Dun DUUUNNN!!!" he growled once more playfully, lunging out of the water and tackling her, standing on his hindlegs as he held her tightly against him in his forepaws and spun in a circle quickly, nibbling on her scruff. He stopped spinning after a bit and sat down, holding her and continued nibbling her " I'm going to devour you " he purred lovingly as he went from nibbling her scruff to grooming it.

"EEEP!!" she squealed and a peal of laughter followed suit as she ran for her life. The water cling to her like sticky sap however and she churned through the water too slowly to escape. She giggled as he gathered her up against him and she laughed easily as he spun her around and around.

When he nibbled upon her scruff and went from grooming it, she sighed blissfully and wriggled closer against his warm bulk, granting him more access. "Mh...do I taste that delicious...?" she murmured contentedly, eyes going half-lidded with contentedness and bliss. Her paws stroked the back of his head gently, lovingly.

" Always" he purred, grooming her a bit longer before setting her back down so that her feet touched the bottom of the pool. His ears perked suddenly and he pulled himself back up onto the sandy floor of the cove, his pelt flat against his muscles and build thanks to the water and his eyes on the entrance. He let out a low hiss as rattling sounded from the entrance, signifying the arrival of a rattlesnake. His claws slide out and he snarled, wet tail lashing. He looked over at cirruscurrent to make sure she was still safe in the water before adjusting himself incase the snake decided to try and get into the water.

The snake slithered in, tail rattling harshly as is stopped the dark tom with bright marking and bared it's fangs at him, letting out a terrible toxin ridden hiss. Owlflight let out a low growl then a high hiss, baring his own fangs at the scaly bringer of death

Her purr of triumph was short-lived as an un-feline like hiss sounded unnaturally nearby. She felt terrible fear cover every one of her senses, freezing her in her place. "Owlflight...Don't be a hero. Y-you know what that is...poison...death...Please, just back away slowly and do NOT intimidate it...For my sake, please..." she whispered slowly, yet urgently as her body began to shake with terrible terror.
