Paintedfire || Resting Beneath a Tree near a Small Pool
The days were hot and the nights were deathly cold that every cat in the clan would have to snuggle together against the cold wind to survive the night. Most nights Paintedfire found herself on the outskirts, keeping the others warm on the inside of the circle. Her medium pelt and strong muscles kept her warmer and she fared well against the winds...for the most part. It wasn't night though and instead of in a group the she-cat found herself alone at the closest pool of water near the base of mount hollow, looking to the flatlands of the Unknown. How disgusting and unwelcoming they were. She laid there, the sun dappling through the palf fronds that provided little shade to her. At this time of day the clanners were probably in the makeshift dens on the foot of the mountain.
This whole situation was terrible and Paintedfire only gave the clan a moon at best of survival. She understood that the four migration leaders were still trying to round up the remaining cats but they couldnt wait forever, to risk others lives for the sake of two or maybe three stragglers still trapped in the old territory. With a huff she rested her head on her paws and let her tail rest away from her. As a kit she loved the sun, but today it felt like her personal, worst enemy.

Emerging from a small bank of brambles, Wolfstep quietly shadowed his way through all the cats. It was not a home here, it would never be home again. His scruffy pelt was caked with earth and dust, his eyes weary. He had returned yet again from another unsuccessful search attempt. His heart was empty, scored deep with the death of his father. His black fur seemed to soak the blazing rays of the day's sun. He snarled to himself as he made his way to the pool to wash off.
As he made his way over he spotted a she-cat, he immediately swerved away and made his way to the other end, wading into the now murky water.
( I apologize for the short post, im still trying to get into Warriors again)

Paintedfire heard the sound of another cat, her red eye opening into a small slit to look into the blazing light of the sun. The tom made an obvious attempt to avoid her, and she knew full well who he was. Adopted son of Jaggedstone, they were from the same clan. Never had she spoken to him though, they were a couple months apart and he had worn braces for sometime. So while she was training hard he was still getting used to walking. "I don't bite you know..." she said closing her eyes again, her voice was soft, not menacing, but irritable.
"Still didn't find anyone? I figured..." she said boldly to the dark tom. She figured he was looking for his father, at least he had that hope of maybe finding him. She saw her mother die, and there was no hope in finding her. Death from Kittenbirth was something that never lost a cat's body but left it there for all to see and mourn. At least the earthquake disposed of the bodies...o that the image never haunted.
((its ok ))

Wolfstep narrowed his eyes and curled his lip as Paintedfire spoke to him. He knew she was a clan member, and that he should care for all his fellow marshclanners, but for some reason he just couldn't. He could remember her, when he was a kit. She was training before he was, and became a warrior before him. "Yeah i know you don't" he muttered before submerging himself for a moment.
When he re-surfaced he flattened his ears at her comment " No we didn't, so shut your maw" he snarled. His father had to be alive, he had to. Wolfstep couldn't admit that he was most likely dead. He had seen him fall into the crevice himself. "I won't stop looking"

Paintedfire's eyes opened ever so slightly to reveal their mismatched colors, but her expression was far from amused. Her long furred tail twitched at the end in irritation before herbetter judgment could stop her next sentence, "Im only being realistic, dont think you can tell me to shut anything without adding another scar to that dark pelt of yiurs, wolfstep" she threatened cooly. Never moving a muscle she simply watched him. She would have cared about wolfsteps disability if she liked him at all but there was something about him she couldnt get pasted...
And she couldnt figure out what it was either. With a shrug she got up from her spot on the dry grainy sand and began to wade in the water slowly. It was warm but a comfortable warm, where if the dry breeze tangled ones wet fur it felt nice. Finally some pleasure after a terrible couple ofmoons. Loosing her mate and her mother was a hard burden to carry alone.

[[Shiny let me jump in hehe]]
Large ears pricked and dual eyes opened as Cragfrost woke up from his small kip. He heaved himself up and stretched his forepaws, yawning widely and puffing out the fur on his stumped tail. After stretching he opened his mouth to scent the destruction in the air. Not a bird twittered and the only sounds were the rustling trees and the washing lake. But something else caught the bulky tom's attention. She could also hear his sister and Wolfstep having a quarrel. He dashed over immediately to the two and stood infront of them, "Want some help getting this burr out of your pelt, Paintedfire?" He asked and a glare at the dark tom close by.

Wolfstep waded back out of the pool and shook out his fur " Id like to see you try" he muttered before starting to groom himself " Keep your comments to yourself, why don't you. " he meowed, trying to hide the heartbreak from his voice. Slowly but surely he was finding it hard to keep hope that his father was still alive. He looked up as Cragfrost approached and hissed. Great... just what he needed more cats threatening him. " Mind your own business"

((Ima jump in toos~ ))
A rather ragged and beat up looking red tabby tom slunk into the area, his tongue lolling from his maw as he trudged closer. Just returning from an unsuccessful hunt, Oakheart flopped down beside the petty water source, but didn't flinch at the odd taste that hit his mouth as he gulped in as much as he could handle. He slowed his drinking pace, and looked up to meet the other cats' gazes. He didn't really know any of them that well, but he recalled seeing them before in Marshclan. "Um.. Did I miss something?" His voice came out low and husky, a hint of uncertainty within. His gaze finally rested on Paintedfire, as he was fascinated by her odd eyes.
