Hawktide || Dried Up Swamp
It was the worst of times. Hawktide, the raggedly, clumped MarshClan warrior heaved a sigh. He had finally given up Gingervoice's body, but locked their memories deep within himself, never to be retrieved again. He glowered at the swamp before his paws and hissed as the memories came racing back of his apprentice days of MarshClan, not so very long ago, and spent with her. Giving a dejectedshake of his head, he flattened his ears and bent his head to lap up the last remaining drops. Now was the time to head to his pack and tell them how alive he was.
Not very. But StarClan thought it would be better for his life to drag on and on out here in the vast unknown where others were being found dead on an hourly basis by the tom. He had yet to report to his Clan leader and took a deep breath as he took the first step towards the cluster; dreading it for all it was worth.

Faithpaw||Rock outcropping, looking over camp||
A rather small apprentice with a tail that looked like that of a bunnies sat under a rock outcropping that overlooked camp. It offered decent shelter against the howling winds, and a near-perfect view of the camp that she was guarding. Goldenpaw || (C) Lady || had dozed off, it seemed. Faithpaw rolled her eyes with a faint smile of amusement as her icy blue colored eyes scanned camp curiously.

As the tall Tom came into view of the 'camp', he frowned in consternation and nearly dropped the shrew he'd caught earlier as a sort of apology present for not showing up until now. This was it? This was all that was left of Hollow Lake cats?? His remaining ear twitched and his eyes narrowed as he scanned more deeply, padding forward slowly towards what he gathered to be the watch 'tower' under the overhang.
His broken tail tip was waved every which way as he limped exhaustedly towards the awake sentry. A she-cat he hadn't been able to see in a long time. "Faithpaw. I'm glad to see you among the living..." he murmured lowly after placing his shrew down to greet her properly. She actually had no idea how relieved he felt to see another living soul...besides the three he saw yesterday after finding a buried alive cat still living. But they didn't hardly count.

Faithpaws ears pricked up,eyes eager. "Hi Hawktide!" She meowed brightly, waving her bunny-tail around exitedly "Did you find my parents?" She meowed, eyes large and hopeful, even though she saw them getting burried under stone, maybe they lived.
She poked her head out a bit, risking the wailing wind against her short fur, looking at Hawktide expectantly,

"I saw many cats..." he sighed tiredly and sat down before her tentatively, a lump within his throat. After a long time, he managed to meet her eyes, beautiful though they were and so bright and filled with youth's excitement. He wondered shortly if he still had that for he was not old. "Faithpaw...they were not among the living..." his ears flattened painfully as he broke the news to her. Quickly, he croaked, "They loved you very much...I was granted their last moments. They told me to tell you that." he murmured softly, gently touching her cheek reassuringly with his tail tip poof.

Her heart seemed to leap into her neck, choking her. Faithpaws eyes wavered "N-no! They can't be gone, they would have come back" She said, hoping with all her heart he was mistaken. "I worked so hard so that when they came back... everything would be perfect" She choked out, refusing to let the tears run, instead she kept them captive in her eyes. Her bright blue eyes sparkled as she tried to keep her emotions under check.

(They are dead right?)
Hawktide bowed his head regretfully. Why was he the bearer of bad news? His throat choked him tighter, "Im so sorry..." he murmured, heartfelt. Then gently moved closer so he could take her up against him in a comforting hold, "I am truly sorry...I don't know what it would be like to lose Cirruscurrent and Finchstar, my parents..." he murmured, but it sounded faraway and hopeless in his ears. "It's okay to cry, little one..." he choked, his own eyes squeezed shut right as he held her protectively.

(Yup) Faithpaw tore her eyes away, pushing back her tears. "No. I'll be fine, they wouldn't want me to cry" She meowed, flicking her bunny-tail back and forth sadly as she tried to remember her parents. "What.. did they say last?"

Hawktide released her with a perplexed frown. Looking at her intensely. "Your parents...They said they loved you. They were proud of you. And Er, your father said something about knocking the toms dead..." he blinked and then licked his lips awkwardly, shifting from paw to paw at the message he was to deliver.

Faithpaw smiled sadly, but giggled slightly at the last bit Hawktide spoke. "Father was always silly" She meowed with a laugh. She was still a bit shaken, but to hear her fathers humor, even from a different cat, was reassuring to the small apprentice. She noticed Hawktides awkwardness, "Thank you, Hawktide" She meowed with a faint smile "It was nice of you to stay with them while they died"

He scuffed the ground half-heartedly and even felt his ear tips grow hot at her praise and gratitude. "Well...I simply did what any cat would have done at the moment..." his ears flattened sheepishly and once more he was reminded of Gingervoice's sweet voice in his ears. They hadn't had that long to develop their relationship according to her but he had loved the small warrior for a long while before he confessed. Hawktide shook his head to clear the depressing thoughts, berating himself angrily for he had, in anguish, yowled at himself to never think upon that again...
Or how he was the one who should have died for her, fulfilling his promise...

Faithpaw nodded "Yeah, but you actually did it, no one else" She meowed pointedly, as the sun rose high in the sky, healing her heart-wounds slightly, her mother loved to watch the sun rise as the crack of dawn, while she and her father found the eerie beauty in the soft paleness of the moon illuminating the dark night sky. Her eyes were still glazed with sadness, and her voice gave in and trailed away when she spoke, but she felt better, knowing her parents died with another cat, and that their last words had been heard and passed on.

Hawktide watched the sunrise as well, a contented throaty purr enveloping deep in his throat. He had at least done something right in his findings...even though he knew he would have to tell of much worse news than thus: he felt a deep tingling inside him; kind of indescribable. But the sunrise...the sunrise gave him new courage.
"New beginnings. No matter what we face in the night, the sun rises each morning to give us a fresh start..." he murmured, his voice low but filled with conviction.
