Saying goodbye to Home. Open to anyone and everyone. SoftpawThe migration leaders were speaking in hushed tones amongst themselves, tucked away in a secretive corner of the temporary camp. Patrols had gone out, but no survivors had been found for several days. The Clans were beginning to feel restless, milling around, unsure and anxious. The storm of a great decision loomed on the horizon, rolling closer with every murmured word between cats. It was clear enough to everyone what would have to happen now, but no one wanted to accept it. Standing on the highest boulder she had been able to climb with her short legs, Softpaw shook the fur from her eyes and gazed out down the mountain. It had taken her the better part of an hour to find, what with not being able to see or climb well, but she had finally found the perfect vantage point. From here she could see far out across their old home. Crisscrossed with deep fissures like gaping wounds, hills of rubble marking landmarks she had once known. Turning all the way around, she could just see past the towering mountain into what cats called the simply, the 'Unknown'. Vast stretches of barren wasteland rolling on out of sight. No one knew what lay out beyond the territories, but from the way things were looking, they would find out soon enough. Looking back to what had once been her home, Softpaw bid a silent goodbye to the life she had known. No turning back now.

Tumbledown scrabbled up the rocks. She had followed the young 'paw' conscious of the dangers that the broken land had brought.
"hey!" she called out "don't trip! It's quite a drop!" she edged close to the edge and peered over it into the deap broken canopy. She Hurriedly stepped back, knowing her reputation for falling.
She turned to the apprentice and looked down at it, it was small, was SHE ever that small? Well... Every cat was a kitten... Once...
"What's your name?" she enquired, realising that she didn't know his apprentice...

Softpaw's ears flicked, the sound of approaching pawsteps reaching them just before the other cat spoke. "Don't trip!" Flicking her tail, half in amusement, half in annoyance, she turned to face the other cat. A quick sniff told her all she needed to know about the cat- Female, ReedClan. She instantly bristled, her automatic distrust of strangers finally kicking in. "Excuse me? Do I look like that much of a mousebrain? I can take care of myself, thank you very much." She pointedly sat her rump down on the rock, wrapping her enormous tail around herself and giving the she-cat an exasperated look through her fur.
When the cat questioned her, she bared her teeth. "My name is none of your business, ReedClanner. We might all be stuck together, but that doesn't mean I plan to go around consorting with the enemy." She turned her back then, tossing her head so she could see back out across the territories. "Besides, you can't expect me to tell you MY name when you haven't even offered your own."
