She looked down impatiently. "Yeah!" She reared up with all her might and slammed down. The rock shook slightly and they could hear the rustling of warm furry bodies beneath. Sparrowflight reared up again with Wolfstep and hit the rock again. One mouse ran out, two mice, three four! The mice were very small, and very young, but at a time like this any food would do. He stomped down on one and bit another. Six, seven eight! The bodies rushed out. Sparrowflight gasped as a large one ran onto a distracted Wolfstep and bit his shoulder. She sank her teeth into it and pulled it off. killing it with a quick snap to it's neck.

Wolfstep quickly snapped the small ones and let out a screech when one had bit his shoulder he whipped it off and helped sparrowflight with the rest he purred with delight , so many mice! He counted the many little bodies... 10! Ten mice! He was so happy he couldn't stop the rumbling purr. He rushed over to sparrowflight and licked her cheek. He stumbled backwards embarrased and hung his head "s-sorry" his ears were hot. " i-I uh..."

Sparrowflight's whole body shook with happiness as she felt the warm lick on her cheek. She reached forward and pressed her nose against his and licked his cheek. "Thank you so much! this is the best day I've had sense the earthquake." She rumbled. She picked up five mice in her jaws. "weft's gwt ohm." She mumbled.

Wolfstep blinked in suprise and stuttered slightly "me t-to" he said as he picked up the remaining mice and followed her back to camp. His tail was carried high as her was so elated. He wanted to run with joy and purr and scream to starclan. he felt so good he felt his legs wobble.

Sparrowflight lead the way into the camp and then slowed up so that she was right next to Wolfstep. She let most of the mice down into the pathetic looking freshkill pile, and picked out three of the mice. "Lets go show these to Daddy!" She made her way slowly through the cats and reached Finchstar. "dad..." She nosed him softley. "Huhh.... " He opened his eyes and blinked a few times, then let out a long ywan. "Oh hia there."

Wolfstep purred and rubbed against her ever so slightly, he placed his mice in the pile and followed after her. He dipped his head in greeting to Finchstar, whom he had the upmost respect for. Finchstar had never given up on him, just like Sparrowflight. "Good evening Finchstar"

"Good evening you too..." His light tone vanished and he focused on the food. He smiled "what is this?" His paws kneaded the ground his stomach churning. How was it that he felt guilty eating. All he did was sit here and veag about, doing nothing. He was useless and just took away valuable food. "It's for you daddy! We brought your favorite!" She set it down gently in front of him waiting for his approval. He stared at is and smiled. "You got me this time." He sighed. Even if he didn't want it, he knew full well that she would be crushed if he didn't eat it. He took a bite. "I haven't seen mice this plump sense we arrived here! this is amazing!" Sparrowflight let out a trill of happiness and pressed against Wolfstep. "Couldnt have done it without Wolfstep." She said beaming.

Wolfstep curled his tail and pressed against her and purred "She caught most of them though, it was her idea to go mouse hunting" he meowed as he dipped his head again. He secretly wished his father was here, to keep Finchstar company, a sad expression crossed his face for a moment,

"Thank you very much, both of you." He closed his eyes as he ate the last few bite in contentment. Sparrowflight nudged one of the mice to him and ate her own, content as well with the ache in her belly temporarily dulled.

Wolfstep curled his tail around his pawn as he sat. He wasn't hungry and he figured the weaker cats could use a mouse more than him. He sat there quiet enjoying the sounds of the many clan cats bustling in and out of the make shift camp,

Sparrowflight yawned and stretched. She curled around her father and began to groom him. Slowly he worked her toung over his shoulders. "Youve both been helping out so much. I'm very proud of both of you." He said and looked at Wolfstep before starting to groom his daughter's shoulder.

Wolfstep sighed and dipped his head again "Anything for the clan, i just wish my father was here..." he meowed wiping a paw over his scarred muzzle. He looked over at Sparrowflight and suddenly felt better. He always felt better when she was around.

[Aspyluff]

Finchstar sighed and Sparrowflight looked over at Wolfstep with sympathy. "We all do. Just remember, Jaggedstone never left you." He stretched out his remaining foreleg and pressed his paw against his chest. "He's right here. And as long as you keep remembering him, he will live. Never let go of that. He may still be alive. Hope for that, Because without hope we have nothing." He drew his paw back and tucked it under him and continued grooming Sparrowflight.

Wolfstep nodded " i try to keep hope, but it's hard. " he meowed his eyes wavering over to the rest of the camp. So many cats " Do you think we'll find a place to live again, or will we be forced to live in this starclan forsaken place forever?" he said as he groomed his own shoulder.

[Aspyluff]

Finchstar stood up and shook his coat. "Not as long as I'm alive we won't" He demanded. "At least I'm not living here for the rest of my days. The world is very big, I've seen it, when I was young I left the clans, I saw what the world had to offer, and I know that somewhere there is a place for us, we just can't give up searching for it." He stretched and yawned. "shall we go for a walk? Im sick of staying in camp." He added and licked his mouth getting rid of any remaining mouse. Sparrowflight looked tentative. "well, maybe you should just stay here and rest.
