Wolfstep dipped his head and shrugged " Perhaps things have changed since you left. " he muttered giving his own shoulder a quick lick. Wolfstep kneaded his paws anxiously " Do you think thats a good idea? I heard some patrols had spotted some rattlesnakes" he meowed.

Finchstar sighed "Well, I guess we will just have to find out then, eh?" He shook his head. "Rattlesnakes. HA! I've seen many of them in my life, never let a snake stop me from taking a walk." He prodded ahead, his gait choppy as he limped along. "Sparrowflight looked after him. "See what I mean? Its like he dosen't take any precaution. He needs to take it easy!" She trotted after him "dad!"

Wolfstep cocked his head and snorted "Finchstar stop, you shouldn't be just running off like that, you're being as reckless as Sparrowflight and I when we were kits!" he groaned trotting after the two cats he brushed his pelt up against her's to reassure her "He just needs to figure out his boundries"

[Aspyluff]

Finchstar rolled his eyes. "I'm a grown cat. Iv'e been sitting around doing nothing for MOONS! If I don't get out soon, I don't know what I'll do! " He hissed and shook his head. "Its... just that... I'm not used to this sitting around. We won't go far" He looked back at them with a pleaing look in his eyes. Sparrowflight looked over to Woflstep waiting to see what he'd say, lost for words herself.

Wolfstep perked his ears up and let out a small growl, irritated by the older cats persistence "We will decide how far you go, Finchstar. " he meowed, voice stern. " If we even smell anything wrong we'll escort you back to camp. I understand you must be frustrated by this, but pushing yourself will not help anyone" his blue eyes closed for a moment, waiting for his former leaders reaction.

Finchstar's chest was puffed uf, his old instincts threatening to flood over, his desire to be in charge, his word being what would make or break his clan. He could feel that power now, slowly slipping away like sand running through a sieve. Panic was beginning to set in, but he closed his eyes, his body shaking slightly, almost unnoticeably. He swallowed, taking all that he had, and shoved away the feeling. He would just have to get used to the reality that his old life was over, and it left open a greater opportunity. He wasn't going to make a fool of himself, excpessially in front of his daughter and past apprentice. He wasn't a fool, so why act like one. "He dipped his head. "Yes Wolfstep." He said and looked back up at him. Sparrowflight let out a small put of air. She had been holding it the whole time expecting her father to attack Wolfstep. As the incident passed over she felt relief shudder through her frame. She pressed against the black warrior for comfort. "thank you" she breathed.

Wolfstep blinked in surprise. He had expected Finchstar to put up a bit of fight. "W-well lets go then" he pressed back into Sparrowflight and let out a quiet purr " I thought he was going to claw my eyes out" he whispered good-heartedly as he led the way out of camp.

[Aspyluff]

The three cats headed out and along the open hard packed earth, sticking close to the camp however. Finchstar was slowly picking up stamina and every so often would get up enough momentum to start prancing around happily, like a kit on it's first expedition out of camp. Both Wolfstep and Sparrowflight walk slightly behind him, observing for danger. "He seems happy to be out. Thank you for everything today. For hunting, and for handling him." He nudged him. Finchstar stopped and lifted his nose to the air. A warm breeze his his face and he lashed his tail and jumped in the air almost staggering and then bolted a few feet and stopped. He shook his fur and groomed his shoulder. He then finally sat still gazing up at the sky.

Wolfstep followed close behind, eyes flicking at any sound. If he let anything happen to Finchstar he could never forgive himself. He was however happy to spend more time with Sparrowflight. " Of course... anything for you" he meowed quietly as he looked around again before nuzzling her neck " Feeling Better Finchstar?" he could practically feel the former leader's happyness radiate off of him.

Sparrowflight felt a tingle of warmth spread trough her fur at his words. Why? Why had it suddenly affected her. Was it way he said? or what he meant. She felt over loaded with joy and felt like prancing around like her father, free to the wind and the smells. She refrained however, not wanted to look like a kit, although it did look like a lot of fun. The wind was picking up and blowing the cat's fur all around. Finchstar now had his eyes closed, his head still raised to the sky. "Yes Wolfstep, I'm feeling much better. Remind me next time I'm all depressed in the elders den someday, to drag me out here, and tell me to walk, trust me. It always does me wonders"

Wolfstep padded forward a bit, ahead of Finchstar drawing in a few breaths. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, nothing smelled wrong. He was happy this went so well, and happy that he had spent the rest of his day with Sparrowflight. Now if only Finchstar would head back to camp, and he was starting to think that he might never want to return. "As long as you have a warrior with you that is!" he mrrowed.
