Exosted from the long night of kitting, Redwood curlled around her two surving bundles. Two of her four kits had joined their father in StarClan. "Keep them safe." She whispered to her fallen mate. Finally feeling up to naming the two kits she looked them over and smiled, "Cherrykit," she mewed softly to the red she-kit marked as she was, swirrls covering her back. "And you, are Darkkit." Redwood nosed the smoky grey tabby tom. "My kits, you have finally arrived."

[Kovu]

A red kit fondly suckled to her heart's content as if there were no tomorrow; tiny paws working blissfully against the life-giver's stomach as she purred and the warm milk rushed into her maw. Cherrykit felt a warm presence on only one side and she wondered what had happened to her other two siblings she felt in the woumb alongside her...Cooing slightly as she cuddled against her brother.

Darkkit squirmmed with all his might. Oh the room he had! He wondered why he had so much of it but didn't care that he did. It just felt good to move around without getting kicked anymore. He felt the warm body of his sister next to him and the warm milk flowing to his belly. He was full and happy.

Redwood licked each of her kits on their head and lied her head on her paws. Her eye lids felt heavy but she didn't want to sleep. She didn't want to miss a moment of her kits lives. Sighing, the new queen currled her tail protectily around her kits and found herself drifting off to sleep.

Darkkit scampered from his mother's protective tail and stumbled over Cherrykit in the process. The dark tabby tom piered out of the nersery drawing back by the harsh light that struck his eyes.

[Kovu]

"Darkkit!!" Cherrykit moanEd; she had been sleeping very peacefully and now her entire pelt was messed up. Huffing, she set to grooming her tiny kit body, gave up after a few licks and hurled herself at her brother with a playful battle squeal, "Revenge!" tiny paws outstretched as she leapt towards him.

Darkkit turned eyes wide and ears falt his jaw dropped as he saw his sister fling herself at him. "Revenge?" He squeeked. "I didn't do anything!"

[Kovu]

She giggled as she tackled him, bowling him over in the process and nibbling on his ears with a fierce purr of affection, "You tripped over me!~" she explained as if that made perfect sense.

Cherrykit had pushed Darkkit out the nersery entrance and out into the sunlight. Sitting awkward on his tail Darkkit felt dased and blinded. "Well you shouldn't sleep so close to me!" He resorted in saying squinting his eyes. "Its so bright out here!"

[Kovu]

"Of course I'm going to snuggle up against my strong, brave brother! He's the one who protects me during the night!~" she giggled before giving an 'ooph' of surprise as the light suddenly shut her eyes to its harsh brightness.

As his eyes slowly ajusted to the sun Darkkit felt his pelt go hot. "You..you really mean that?" He asked touching his sister's nose in hopes of leading her out of the nersery.

[Kovu]

"Of course! It's scawy out there and you're the tom of the family, all big and bad." she teased gently, but meaning every word with a giggle. Eagerly touching her cold nose affectionately to her brother's and able to see him as her eyes finally adjusted. Blinking widely and adorably, she pressed close against his side hoping for him to lead the way as she trusted him to do.

Leading Cherrykit from the nersery he brought her into the sunlight. Puffing out his chest Darkkit tried to look like a strong warrior but he just looked like a dark ball of fluff. "I'll protect you from a bear!" He purred. "Now what sould we do first? See the medicine cat or our future denmates the apprentices?"
